Uploading files via e-mail
You can send files, which you encounter during your daily work, simply as e-mail attachments to the Drooms data room 'Inbox' folder, without having to start Drooms each time. When you visit your data room the next time, you can move the files from the Inbox to the index where they belong.
By default only administrators can send files to the inbox. Other users can use the inbox only if they have been granted either the 'Edit', 'Create with
approval', or 'Create only' permission for it.
- The e-mail address for the inbox can be found in the index 'Inbox' folder description, and with a single click can be copied to your clipboard. It is unique for every data room.
- To send files via e-mail to your data room, simply create an e-mail, add
the intended files to it as attachments, and send the e-mail to the
corresponding data room e-mail address.
Please note the following limitations for uploading files via e-mail:
- Max. 10 files can be attached per e-mail;
- Max. overall file size is 20 MB per e-mail;
- Files with 0 kB will not be accepted;
- File names must contain less than 200 characters.
Only the attachments will be uploaded to the Inbox, not the e-mails as such. The e-mails do not have to have a subject line or any text.
All files uploaded via e-mail to the inbox are being billed according to the contractual conditions agreed upon for the project.
- For working with the files that have been uploaded to the Inbox, please note that the files can be moved to their desired location in the index by drag and drop or via the respective index context menu options.
Principally the context menu and the top bar actions Search, Filter, and
Tree/List mode apply to the inbox contents the same way as for Trash
folder contents.
However, please note that the inbox and its content are not affected by or support the following features:
- Index allocation and auto allocation – not applicable;
- Index export - Trash and inbox contents are not included;
- Permissions export - Trash and inbox contents are not included;
- Permissions import - Permissions for the Inbox can only be set online;
- Q&A - It is not possible to ask questions about files in the Inbox;
- Upload files/folders - not supported, only uploading files via e-mail possible;
- Create document - not supported.
