Editing index points

Editing index points

For editing, i.e., moving or renaming a folder or document index point, or replacing a document, proceed as follows:
  1. Select 'Data Room' in the navigation menu on the left to access the data room index, and open the index context menu with a right mouse click on the folder or index point, which you want to edit.

  1. Select the 'Edit' sub-menu option 'Edit index point' to open the 'Edit folder' or 'Edit document' modal dialog. Which one opens depends upon you prior index point selection.

  1. At 'Index point description' you can select for both a folder or index point any other, so far unused, index position in order to move it within its parent folder, and edit the folder or index point description in order to rename it.
  1. If you want to replace a document, click on 'Delete and Upload new' to select a new file from your local directory that will replace the existing file. If you selected an empty index point, click on 'Upload file' to now select and upload a file to it. The modal dialog will display and offer the option to use the file name as description for the new index point.
  1. When everything is ready and set, click on 'Save' to save your changes and upload a new file, if applicable.
For uploading and processing a new file replacing an old one, the same conditions, limitations and options apply as for uploading a file when creating a new index point.

Please be aware that when replacing a file this way, the old file will be deleted straight away, and cannot be recovered. If you want to keep it for safety reasons, you can move the old file first to the trash bin (using option 'Attached documents only'), before editing the then empty index point and uploading a file there.
